The Classic Negroni – with a twist! I recommend a gin that will stand up the the flavors of the other two ingredients: The Botanist is my first choice. The Botanist is an artisanal Islay gin made by Bruichladdich Distillery, and is distinctive for its 22 hand-foraged Islay botanicals that are added to nine core gin aromatics. (The name was inspired by the two local botanists who helped develop the recipe for the gin alongside former Master Distiller Jim McEwan.) To our gin, I then use Dolin Rouge Vermouth de Chambery in combination with (here’s the twist!) Tempus Fugit Gran Classico Bitters, instead of the usual Campari. Then the recipe calls for an equal amount of each (1-oz per) but I recommend experimenting and adjusting to your taste. Add 1/2 slice orange.
